Haverstick Brothers Hydraulics is a family-owned business that has kept machines running fluidly since 1946. That was the year when mechanically gifted twin brothers Chester and Lester Haverstick founded an auto repair business just outside Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Their original building was a surplus World II Quonset Hut, which still houses part of the business today.
Chester and Lester were highly skilled at car care, and word of their fine work and engine knowledge gained them a reputation throughout the area. Soon, local farmers began bringing machinery to be serviced and repaired. After some time, the brothers ceased working on cars, instead entirely focusing on machining, welding, and hydraulic repairs.
During the 1950s, the two brothers invented and built a machine to unload concrete blocks, which became the industry standard for a short time. But when a better machine came on the scene, the brothers again refocused on maintaining and repairing hydraulic systems. Business was good, and their ongoing maintenance, fabrication, and repair services in that field supported a celebrated business that continues to thrive in the present day.
